Salary: GBP15-18.50 per hour (Dependent on experience)

YOUR ROLE

We have excellent opportunities for a Casual Terminal / Jetty Operator(s) to join our global organisation. The successful candidate(s) will be primarily responsible for undertaking Terminal & Jetty operations as directed ensuring that operational requirements are met and are in compliance with client and SGS's procedures. You will also ensure that tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, minimising any potential hazards and allowing for the safe discharge of vessels at various locations in the South West including but not limited to Avonmouth, Barry and Cardiff.

Key Accountabilities

  • Connection/Disconnection of loading arms and spool pieces.
  • Monitoring the ship/shore interface during loading/discharge operations whilst alongside the jetty.
  • Pre-arrival and post departure checks, clean-up of jetty area to maintain good housekeeping for the client.
  • Carry out other duties within the terminal/jetty area as instructed by Senior Operators / Supervisors / Managers to meet client requirements.
  • Completion of relevant paperwork for the operations in line with specific port rules and regulations.
  • Awareness at all times and reporting of all observations of defects, near misses and incidents that could have or did compromise health, safety, environment, plant integrity or security.
  • Ensure you and all employees are working in a safe manner with the correct PPE and fully understand the tasks, emergency procedures and associated risks
  • Assist with training of new operatives under the guidance of relevant Supervisors / Managers to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Assist Supervisors / Managers in identifying and correcting any non-conformances with regard to quality, operational or safety matters.
  • Provide information for relevant investigations as required ensuring continuous improvement and H&S standards are maintained.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the relevant Operating Procedures, HSE Manuals and Risk Assessments.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Willing and able to work unsociable hours.
  • Possess effective interpersonal, team working and time management skills (operating often to conflicting/tight deadlines).
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding work, the majority of which is outdoors on 24/7 rota.
  • Desirable experience in an Oil and / or Chemical related industry, or alternatively offshore, shipping, sea going experience or a relevant science/nautical qualification and a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Hold a valid driving license for use in the UK
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and a degree of autonomy.
