What you'll be doing
Great food cooked with fantastic produce is at the heart of everything we do and we are on a mission to get customers enthused about cooking with high quality fresh seasonal ingredients. We have a constant need to extend our recipe repertoire, and support customers in cooking with our products. Having expanded our offer in the last few years to introduce a range of Recipe Boxes, giving our customers an added level of choice and convenience, we are looking for a Recipe Writer to join our team.
You will be working as part of a team, supporting the creation of seasonal, flavourful, nutritious recipes for use in our Recipe Boxes. This is a part-time role, using your extensive cooking knowledge and writing skills to add new and exciting recipes to our existing offering, in line with our range of dietary and budgetary requirements.
This is a part time role, working 2 days a week, usually Thursday and Friday with some flexibility and potential for increased hours. Remote working options can be considered, as long as you are able to frequently visit our site in Buckfastleigh.
Your main responsibilities:
- Writing new and exciting recipes that best reflect the produce from our farm, while considering parameters such as seasonality, availability, timings, RM budget and dietary requirements.
- Support and provide holiday cover for the Head of Recipe (extra hours may be required during holiday periods). Some weekend cover may also be required.
- Occasional cover to respond to Recipe box production team requirements; amending recipes during a production week as ingredient items become unavailable, advising on the relevant substitutes, adjusting the recipe card ingredient and method as required
Skills & experience
- Experienced recipe writer, with a wide repertoire. A bias towards vegetarian and vegan cookery would be advantageous, but the role would include writing for all dietary requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience of recipe development.
- Excellent written and computer literacy skills.
Personal qualities
- Friendly and easy manner; good communication skills.
- Creative and willing to learn.
- Organised; good at working to deadlines, with relentless attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic, positive and flexible.
- Calm under pressure.
