About the role:
Our client has created an exciting new position of Head of Economics to provide economic insight and thought leadership on poverty and social security.

Within the role, you will lead economic modelling within the organisation, and deliver the data and analytical infrastructure required by our client for high-quality economic analysis.

Deputising for the Chief Economist as necessary, you will provide leadership and development for the Economics team as a whole. This will include designing and leading a programme of engagement with economic stakeholders, and ensuring that the work of the Economics team meets the highest standards of rigour.

Millions of people are locked in poverty in the UK. Our Client doesn’t believe that’s right. That’s why they’ve made it their mission to solve it. Their new strategy is to work alongside others to build public and political will for change and demand for solutions.

About you:
They are looking for someone who has several years’ professional experience working as an economist, and of managing economic analysis to develop policy. With an advanced ability to apply economic theory to policy questions, you will also be able to construct a compelling narrative from economic analysis and have significant experience of communicating economic analysis to non-specialists.

A strong interest in UK poverty, social policy, labour markets and housing is needed, as is having a passion to join them in their mission to solve poverty in the UK. A good leader with excellent communication skills, you will have significant experience of independently using data for economic analysis and have experience of using data analysis software to analyse micro data sets.

Women are under-represented in this area of work and are encouraged to apply. All applications will be treated equally.

About us:
Our Client is a social change organisation with a 100-year history. They are built on trust, show they care, and exist to make a difference.

They work with others to put forward sector-leading research, evidence, solutions and stories to the UK’s influencers and decision-makers.

They believe that a prosperous poverty-free UK is within reach - they just need more people to believe it too.

To make their vision a reality they need talent, ideas, skills and passion, plus they need to change some of what they do and how they do it. So, they’re embarking on a significant period of change - change that will see them become an outcomes-focused organisation that embraces new ways of working and modern practices.

If you share their passion, then they need to hear from you.

Closing date for applications is Tuesday 19 February 2019

In support of their approach to flexible working they are happy to receive applications from those seeking full time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part time basis.

When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part time work and, if part time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for.
