Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Newspaper Sales Executive to join the Grimsby Telegraph, part of Reach plc. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of circulation volume and revenue for all Reach titles across the Humber and Lincolnshire including the Grimsby Telegraph, Hull Daily Mail, Scunthorpe Telegraph, Lincolnshire Echo, Lincolnshire Target Series and Retford Times. Reporting to the Newspaper Sales Manager, you will be engaging in all relevant sales department activity, both in the field and occasionally within the office.

For the right candidate, this role can offer the successful individual an exciting opportunity to promote the Grimsby Telegraph within an extremely autonomous role, with varied responsibilities each day. If you enjoy meeting new people and would love to represent and promote our successful newspaper brands, we want to hear from you!

We are Reach because it's what we do.

Every day our newsbrands - national and regional, in print and online - reach millions of people up and down the country. We are the UK's largest news publisher, with influential national newsbrands such as the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday People, Daily Record, and more than 100 distinguished regional titles.

Our brands have a long heritage of being trusted sources of news and information, with our editorial conviction and high standards of journalism providing audiences with timely information and opinion across multiple platforms.

Last year we sold 540 million newspapers, and our network of over 70 websites provide 24/7 coverage of news, sport and showbiz stories, viewed by 110m unique browsers every month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working within a team of 7, being responsible for working with selected key retailers across the Humber and Lincolnshire to promote Reach PLC titles
  • Carrying out regular active selling promotions, responsible for setting up event stands as and when required
  • Attending appointments with supermarkets and newsagents to promote newspaper sales initiatives
  • Help increase subscriptions of Reach PLC Titles
  • Identify new outlets and monitor sales
  • Working within defined Health & Safety guidelines at all times
  • Administrative tasks, recording all sales records and activity reports

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit individuals who are confident, driven and friendly with persuasive skills. You will have outstanding communication skills and be experienced in customer-facing environments. Being able to work autonomously and use your own initiative is a key element of this role, alongside the ability to manage your time effectively. Good numeric and basic computer skills will aid your success in this role.

As the majority of time will be spent field-based, you must have a full valid driving licence and access to a car (mileage expenses will be paid). This role requires individuals to be flexible and able to work 7 hours per day, flexible hours on a rotating shift pattern. Working hours will generally be Monday-Friday (8 - 5) although we do require full flexibility Monday-Sunday to accommodate occasional weekend work.

Full training will be given.
