The University of Bristol invites applications to a permanent Lectureship (Lecturer B) in Jewish Studies in the Department of Religion and Theology. Candidates who can demonstrate excellence in research and teaching in Jewish Studies are invited to apply. The disciplinary specialisation within Jewish Studies is open but we particularly welcome applications from candidates specialising in one or more of the following areas: biblical studies; comparative religion (especially with Christianity and/or Islam); gender studies; Holocaust theology; philosophy of religion.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality teaching and administration and to pursue research in her/his area of specialism to the highest standards in order to enhance the international research profile of the Department of Religion and Theology, the School of Humanities, and the Faculty of Arts. The appointment start date is September 2018.

Timescale of appointment:

Long-listed candidates will be notified on or about Friday 15 December 2017. They will be asked to submit a sample of their work (in English, not more than 10,000 words) as soon as possible after notification, but no later than Wednesday 20 December 2017. Short-listed candidates will be notified on or around Friday 12 January 2018 and invited to interview. They will be asked to give a brief presentation based on their research to an audience comprising the interview panel and staff and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Arts, on the day of the interview.
