Due to unprecedented levels of growth and investment in the rail industry my client, a globally renowned technology pioneer, are looking for an Electrical Engineer to work out of their major engineering facility in Milton Keynes on a permanent basis. This multinational engineering business are well known for the comprehensive professional development of their highlymotivated staff. General Description: To ensure that the electrical engineering aspects for Incident & Special Projects are successfully, scoped, costed, specified, validated, tested and delivered. Responsibilities: Undertake site visits to customer depots often at short notice. Produce vehicle damage reports detailing the existing damage associated with the Incident and scope the repairs required to return the vehicle to the as built, pre incident condition. Produce a scope of work, bill of materials, cost estimate, labour hours and material costs to establish the vehicle repair budget. Generate the technical documents required to undertake the vehicle repair. Including Repair procedures, Engineering work instructions, Test Specifications, and modification instructions. Generate technical requirement specifications. Provide support to the site and other Projects as required and unspecified duties. Review the repair procedures with the customer and supplier proposals for the integration of new systems. Ensure the risk associated with the electrical changes to rolling stock are understood, documented and managed. Undertake detailed analysis of existing driving control, door control and auxiliary control circuits in order to provide solutions to reliability issues or to provide functional upgrades. Ensure compliance with existing legislation on electromagnetic compatibility. Produce reports to justify the cable dimensioning and protection. Produce test procedures to ensure that the replaced, disturbed circuits and systems can be functionally tested at the build and commissioning sites. Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Group standards including Railway Group Standards, British Standards, and, if necessary, RIA Standards. Manage the resolution of emerging technical issues arising out of the application of the changes. Compilation of Repair History Books and vehicle logbooks to enable vehicle repair certification. Education Requirements Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Detailed knowledge of railway vehicle electrical systems and components. A working knowledge of BS / EN and RIA Specifications. Willing to undertake a Personal Track Safety course. Computer literate and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe pdf. Relevant experience in the Railway Industry This position would provide a salary of GBP40,000 GBP50,000 depending upon experience, and would also offer benefits including healthcare, 25 days holiday and company contributed pension up to 6%.
