Cost base Accountant; Location: Blackburn; Duration: 15 Months; Hours: 37 per week;
Pay: GBP27.00 LTD or GBP21.80 PAYE
We are looking for a Cost Base Accountant to work at our client's site on the outskirts of Blackburn.
The role will sit within a Central Finance Team consisting of Cost base and Governance, and will report directly to the Finance Manager and will provide the candidate a good understanding of company process /controls and how they impact the different systems within the business.
Knowledge, appreciation and application of the Operational Framework will also be developed in particular the Finance Policy Manual and Financial Control Framework.
Main Responsibilities
The Cost base team are responsible for providing cost base information and support to the functions on a monthly basis, reporting cost base within the business and up to. The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Manager - Governance and Cost Base and be responsible for the following key deliverables
Co-ordinate and diarise cost base reviews throughout the year with the Management Functional leads to ensure understanding and ownership of budgets and reforecasts.
Work as part of the cost base team in delivering the monthly cost base management reporting requirements within the required timescales.
Provide information into the monthly cost base reviews within the business, providing functional managers with information to support their areas.
Plan and evaluate the cost base reforecast working with the functions to provide information to the timescales allowing sufficient time to review within the business.
Assist with the submission of the Cost base IBP. Ensure that the cost base IBP ties in with the DI Project IBP assumptions. Work with the business to ensure better alignment of Supply and Demand of resource.
Ensure continual analysis of overhead expenditure ensuring that costs are allocated to cost base or contract in accordance with the QMAC and financial governance
Prepare and submit cost recovery invoices in a timely manner to ensure cost base budgets/cost adherence and support billable cost invoices for programmes projects.
Support the business in completing the e-COSA process, ensuring appropriate questions are answered within the team, review sessions are in place and action plans are robust and completed in line with agreed completion dates.
Provide assurance to the Head of Finance that e-COSA submissions are reliable by performing reliance testing across the business.
Ensure Governance procedures and work instructions are established and fully embedded within the business this will involve working with Financial Controllers and Process Owners.
Support the business in managing any Financial Control Framework reviews and audits, ensuring actions are completed in line with agreed completion dates.
Limited travel to other UK sites
Skills and Qualifications
Ideally a Qualified?? or part qualified Accountant but will take into account experience from other functions (QBE)?
Can work and influence at varying levels of management
Business Expertise - Basic Understanding of company Operational Framework and Financial Control Framework.
IT skills - good knowledge of excel & SAP, basic knowledge of word & PowerPoint
Leadership - Will need to work with and provide guidance to Senior Managers within the business.
Problem Solving - Will need to plan activities and deliver to tight timescales, whilst using different systems to get the information for the whole of the business are until the business transitions on to one Finance System.
Interpersonal Skills - Building effective relationships to provide and receive the information that is required.
