Start your day knowing you'll make a difference - join our team of Support Workers and create a positive difference that improves the life for the people we support.

A bit about you

So, you're ambitious, motivated and keen to progress in your career as a support worker. Or perhaps you're looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to begin one of the most rewarding career paths out there. Either is fine with us - although a bit of experience can be an advantage in this line of work, we thoroughly believe that if you share our values and have a variety of life skills, we can develop you into a great support worker. At the moment, we are looking for Support Workers to join our Future 4 services in Glastonbury, Somerset. In your new role you will be working on a flexible basis (including evenings and weekends), supporting customers with learning disabilities and Autism. In return, Discovery will offer you some pretty great inductions, training and supervision packages, alongside a host of other benefits.

A bit about us

Our unique "Activate" approach puts decision making closer to the people we support. It sets personalised and challenging goals with them, their families and you, their Support Worker. By teaching new skills and enabling people to try new experiences, we believe this improves the quality of life for our customers and their families as well as increasing job satisfaction for you and your team.

Our Domiciliary Services support adults within their own home and their local community in order to enable them to live as independently as possible. Support is centered around the individual and includes personal care, household tasks and attending health appointments, from a couple of hours up to 24 hours per day. You'll need to have access to a vehicle and the ability and confidence to work alone (though we'll definitely be providing some training to help you along).

Our Day Services provide community based activities - although each center already has links with their local community, this is a particularly exciting time as we are designing and implementing a vision where we will be fully engaged and a part of community services. We also provide support with personal care, whilst leading activities and maintaining local relationships.

The perks

So, aside from an incredibly rewarding career and the opportunity to make the world of difference to the lives of those you work with, what's in it for you? We're guessing that you aren't necessarily in this line of work for the benefits package, but that doesn't mean that it's not important. So just a few of the rewards for all the work that you do will include:

  • A competitive salary
  • 30 days' annual leave entitlement, rising to 35 days
  • A generous sick pay scheme
  • Enhancements for working overtime
  • Pensions, including a money purchase scheme with employee and employer contributions
  • Paid training

We also care a great deal about your development, and have a number of structures in place to help you develop and progress your career, details of which can be found in the job description - we just can't fit it all in here!
