We are pleased to be partnering this manufacturing business based on the Derby side of the Peak District as they look to recruit a Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager. This is a newly created stand-alone role and will give the successful person an amazing opportunity to put into place a full Procurement function in place from scratch. Line managers currently do their own Purchasing. It is now time to bring it into a centralised function.
Ideally the right person will have worked for an SME before although it would be advantageous if you have large company experience as the business is part of a larger group.
It is envisaged that you will have responsibility for:
Overall responsibility for the supply of all material and services spend
Setting up processes within the team to ensure timely delivery of these goods and services and that they are procured within or below budget
Setting up and operate a purchase requisition process within the ERP system
Managing and report on material stock levels
Ensuring timely delivery of goods and services on a JIT basis
Negotiating and set up supply contracts with key suppliers to the business
Introducing and maintain an annual/bi- annual tender process
Developing and present a purchasing strategy to the senior management team
Researching and reporting on new materials that will improve the quality and competitiveness of all materials supplied to the business
Occasionally visiting and reporting on current and potential new suppliers
Setting up an invoice approval process with the accounts department
Extending the role to group in the future
Who should apply?
The role will be well suited to someone who has worked both for SME's and large manufacturing businesses. You'll have worked in a stand alone position previously and will be very hands on with proven ability of improving processes and procedures. This role needs you to be a confident character who will be comfortable challenging and being challenged. If you are CIPS qualified (or part qualified) that would be of great interest to the clients.
