We are looking for Planning Officers to join the teams at Edinburgh Council on a temporary basis to assist with workload. Currently this is an open ended assignment with no specified end date. This is based from an office, but will involve visits to sites.
Qualifications :
- Degree in Town Planning - essential
- Membership of RTPI is desirable
Key Duties and Skills
- The ability to read technical diagrams and maps
- Site Visits
- Assess and make recommendations on planning applications using discretionary powers
- Report writing
- Retrospective applications
- Working to deadlines - statutory application period of 2 months for completion
- Enforcement - the ability to resolve disputes and enforce notices where necessary
- Investigate possible breaches of planning control and take enforcement action
- Manage legal agreements and monitor condition compliance
- Ideally, candidates will have previously experience in this sort of role
- Knowledge of IT systems such as UNIFORM and IDOX.
