The Data Centre IT Support Engineer (1st Level) Role:

The role-holder will be responsible for 1st level data centre support to external and internal customers, assisting them with server, application, desktop, networking and hardware problems and standard change requests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

+ Provide expert cabling support including crimping, patching, labelling, running and terminating. 
+ Support Trainee DC Engineers when required.
+ Troubleshoot hardware faults and arrange replacements.
+ Install and decommission redundant equipment and cabling.
+ Provide expert cabling and hardware support.
+ Responsible for proactive updating of customer and resolution of service.
+ Co-operate and work closely with all members of the support team to ensure efficient, productive and high quality technical support and customer service to customers
+ Manage all incoming calls, emails and faxes to the data centre support function.
+ Liaise with third party suppliers to report and escalate customer problems.
+ Respond to customers within agreed SLA.

Key Essential Education, Qualifications & Skills:

+ Minimum GCSE level, or equivalent, in English.
+ Experience working as a Data Centre Support Engineer, or in a similar role.
+ Experience providing high levels of customer service in an IT or similar industry. 
+ Computer hardware troubleshooting experience.
+ Enthusiasm and interest in Data Centres and Hardware
+ Excellent standard of written and spoken English
+ Keen interest in, and passionate about IT technology and infrastructure
+ Good knowledge and understanding of Hardware, builds / swap outs, desktops, servers, data and power cabling, rack systems etc
+ Good knowledge and understanding of cabling
+ Good knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting
+ Understanding of basic networking concepts

+ This role involves Monday to Sunday shift work, out of hours and on call duties.
+ This role may require occasional customer and other company site visits.
