Project Coordinator and Architectural Technician (AutoCAD Technician / AutoCAD Draughtsman / AutoCAD Draftsman) for the Commercial Construction Industry.

Salary: c. GBP30,000 + bonus + benefits including pension, life assurance, 22 days holiday + 8 days bank holiday and free parking.

I am recruiting a Project Coordinator and Architectural Technician (or Draughtsman) for Windowglass Ltd (Bristol, BS4) a well-established and expanding business that designs, manufactures and installs architectural window systems for the commercial construction industry.

Reporting into the Technical Director this is a highly varied role involving both Architectural Technician and Project Coordination responsibilities. Roughly 50% of your time will be spent drafting construction drawings using AutoCAD and the other 50% of the time will be spent coordinating projects and ensuring project delivery.

Project Coordinator and Architectural Technician (AutoCAD Technician / AutoCAD Draughtsman / AutoCAD Draftsman):

Under the direction and support of the Technical Director you will coordinate 'post-sale' activities, overseeing projects and ensuring the delivery of contracts to a high standard. You will be overseeing 3 or 4 contracts at any one time with a total annual value of c.GBP1million. You will attend the initial site visits, surveying, measuring and obtaining the detail required from the customer (Architects, Main Contractors etc.). You will then draft the construction drawings using AutoCAD before passing the drawings on for production. You will ensure materials are available as required and oversee the delivery schedule, communicating between production, installation and the customer and resolving any issues that arise. .

The successful candidate will have a highly professional and proactive approach and may have worked as an Architect, Architectural Technician, Project Coordinator, Draughtsperson, Estimator or perhaps a Technical Sales Person in the commercial construction industry and be looking for a highly varied role and further career development.

Duties Include:

• Organising departmental resources to fulfil the needs of the production programme and those of the customer, including customer liaison, project management, preparation of drawings, specifications and pre-production documentation etc.
• Guidance and direction to company staff on the cost effective and appropriate selection of products from internal / external ranges and suppliers.
• Ensuring that contract correspondence and documentation is dealt with in a clear and precise manner.
• Responsible for the timely collection of all relevant information to process a contract such as sizes, specification, details etc.
• Drafting technical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Technical liaison between the Company and its customers and internal technical support.

Project Coordinator and Architectural Technician (AutoCAD Technician / AutoCAD Draughtsman / AutoCAD Draftsman) Skills/Experience Required:

• A good understanding of the Commercial Construction Industry (ideally with some experience of Windows, Curtain Walling or Cladding, preferably with some knowledge of building regulations, building details etc.).
• The ability to read and draft technical/construction drawings (ideally using AutoCAD).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with internal members of staff and external customers (Architects, Main Contractors etc), overseeing projects and ensure the delivery of contracts as required.
