We are looking to appoint a Head of Electoral Services to lead our committed team in delivering high quality, professional electoral services for Wiltshire Council and its residents.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in a high profile position at the heart of a large, dynamic unitary council, taking a lead role in shaping, developing and delivering high quality electoral services.

Wiltshire Council is a forward-thinking, innovative council with a vision to create strong, inclusive and prosperous communities. The council serves a population of 488,000, covering an area comprising 5 Parliamentary constituencies, 98 single member unitary divisions (elected on an all-out basis) and 256 parish, town and city councils. The electoral services team of 9 sits within the Council's Legal and Governance Directorate.

About the role

You will be responsible for providing efficient, effective, and innovative electoral services, including all aspects of electoral registration, successful delivery of all elections and referendums and a lead role in community governance and Boundary Commission reviews. You will provide professional advice to the Returning Officer, Electoral Registration Officer and elected members and will work in collaboration with others, both internally and externally, to increase public awareness and participation in the democratic process.

You must be committed to continuing professional development and would be funded and supported to study for the AEA Diploma in Electoral administration if you don't already hold the qualification.

About you

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) Certificate in Electoral Administration. You will have excellent leadership and project management skills and experience as well as a wide and specialist knowledge of electoral services matters.
