Business Development Manager (Heat Treatment Technical Sales)

This role requires a dynamic individual with both engineering and sales experience to support the achievement of sales targets for new and existing customers for a metallurgical heat treatment company.
Using your technical knowledge of Heat Treatment, you will manage customer accounts to optimise the company's marketing and sales activities, travelling around the UK and occasionally abroad to visit customers.
In order to succeed in this Business Development role, you must have experience and knowledge of Heat Treatment processes, metallurgy and/or mechanical engineering, combined with an ability to interpret customer requirements effectively.
You should also have:
- An understanding of different types of metallic materials, their applications and Heat Treatment constraints
- You must be a confident, people person with excellent communication skills as this role manages the relationship between the department and the customer
- You will need a full driving licence and current passport
Other skills that would benefit the role include previous sales experience, good IT skills, problem-solving, the ability to work calmly under pressure, initiative, enthusiasm and a commercial awareness. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a keenness to develop new skills and be willing to get your hands dirty.
Business Development Manager Position Summary
- Work with other key members of the team to plan, develop and implement a clear sales strategy and work with the Heat Treatment Production Director to identify and target new business opportunities
- Produce quotations for customers by interpreting technical drawings, understanding Heat Treatment requirements and allowing for correct assessment of pricing, providing technical advice to ensure optimisation of their products' metallurgical properties
- Manage relationships with customers, keeping regular contact, ensuring their demands are met, complaints are followed up, price increases set and encourage growth of accounts
- Achieve sales budget/targets and ensure required levels of profit by producing and adhering to all sales KPI's
- Produce, monitor and analyse all monthly sales figures for the department and report these to senior management
- Organise attendance and exhibitor space at key exhibitions and conferences etc.
You will receive full training at our clients' factory in Keighley so you will ideally live within commuting distance
