Structural Engineer

Richard Tant Associates are seeking a structural engineer who can deliver structural designs and drawings for residential and commercial projects throughout London. The required role is a structural engineer with an established background in structural design, incorporating practical site engineering experience. Candidates will require a comprehensive knowledge of civil and structural engineering design principles, including finite element analysis and design of concrete, timber, masonry and steel framed structures. Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required to liaise with architects, stakeholders and project teams. The role will also require the use of structural modelling software to analyse structures and produce output that can be issued with the structural drawings and calculations. A passion for the industry with a goal to achieve chartered status will be beneficial.

The successful applicant will require a 2:1 degree or higher in civil or structural engineering from an established University, both site and design office experience, and skills specific to the role as listed:

• A good knowledge of concrete, steel, timber, masonry and their behaviours
• Experience in the design of reinforced concrete structures and an understanding of underpinning and piling techniques
• Proficient in the use of drafting/modelling software (S-Frame, AutoCAD and CADS)
• Experienced in computer finite element analysis
• A clear and demonstrable understanding of current materials and construction procedures
• Experience in earthworks and the design and construction of basements
• Strong structural engineering background/history
• Proficient in producing engineering sketches
• Strong multidisciplinary communication skills
• Experience in managing projects and liaising with project teams and stakeholders
