The British Dental Association (BDA) is the national professional association for dentists in the UK. This is a challenging and dynamic period for dentistry and the BDA is recruiting a Director to lead our operations in Scotland.

This is a senior, high profile role that will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and effective delivery of BDA advice, services, products and structures to BDA members in Scotland. Working closely with the senior elected officers, the post holder will represent the BDA in Scotland at the highest level.

The role is offered on a part-time four days per week basis. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the good running of the BDA's Scottish office; maintaining a thorough knowledge of the healthcare and related services in Scotland; establishing and maintaining a wide range of contacts with stakeholders; and participating in the development, planning and effective delivery of BDA activities across the whole of the UK.

The successful candidate should be self-motivated and have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the healthcare, political and democratic landscapes of Scotland; an interest in current issues facing dentistry; an understanding of the issues for professional associations such as the BDA; excellent communication skills; the ability to network widely both within and outside dentistry; and the ability to lead and motivate a small team.

This role will involve travel within the UK from time to time.

Benefits include a generous company pension scheme, a childcare voucher scheme, cash back for various healthcare treatments, an employee assistance programme and subsidised gym membership.

All applications must be made on a standard BDA application form (CVs can be attached to this). A detailed job description and an application form can be downloaded from the 'About the BDA' section on the BDA website via the button below.
