Transport Operations Manager required. My client is a global company which has grown and adapted within the industry into an independent group that supplies specialist products to the construction industry. You will be working across the south coast with a haulage fleet of 40 vehicles including tipper, arctic mixers and sweepers.
My client is a company which prides itself on being a leading independent provider that offers the widest range of products possible, catering for any development or construction project.
In this role you will at the sharp end of the day to day operations, of overseeing 30 trucks in this department, take a senior role of a small team of three. You will need the ability to close deals on the telephone selling services and products.
Operations Manager - Transport Position Overview
- Leadership of Transport staff, including line managers, fleet compliance managers, planners & drivers
- Accountable for Operational performance - driving efficiencies, improving service and enhancing commercial margins
- Management of internal and external HGV work shops
- Ensure full compliance with VOSA and business rules and regulations
- Operating budget management
- Team development, performance management and succession planning
- Day to day customer relationship management
- Routing all jobs from other Group depots in a timely and cost effective manner
- Maximise vehicle profitability
- Liaise with contractors to cover jobs where required
- Ensure all company procedures are adhered to at all times
- KPI reporting
- Budget reporting
Operations Manager - Transport Position Requirements
- Proven track record in Leadership and Management of fast moving / complex UK Transport Operations (Staff and Fleet)
- has Construction Materials experience would be highly beneficial
- Focussed on Continuous Improvement along with the ability to implement change management initiatives
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, VOSA regulations
- Budget management experience
- Good network or Transport connections within Transport Companies
- Good Excel skills to carry out detailed cost benefit and comparisons.
- A flexible approach in running a small transport team
