We are looking for talented and motivated wastewater modelling staff with a passion for quality and a determination to deliver to join our wastewater modelling team in Edinburgh. You will have a sufficient range and quality of modelling experience appropriate for the role being applied for. For this Principal Modeller role, you will be a technical trainer and mentor for junior staff, you will have a good grasp of commercial and project management and your design, engineering and construction knowledge will support your modelling experience to make you a well-rounded and valuable member of a successful delivery team.

Mott MacDonald has been successful in winning a place on Scottish Water's SR15 Framework. We are operating in a JV partnership for the Technical Consultancy Framework as m2 JV. This Framework offers up exciting opportunities to work on model maintenance, flooding and UID projects across Scotland.

The role will involve taking leadership of model maintenance projects and the modelling element of flooding and UID projects being undertake for the m2 JV. You will be responsible for guiding the Lead Modeller for each project: helping and supporting the Lead Modeller to plan, undertake work and co-ordinate the work of other modellers within the project team; provide technical training where necessary to improve the technical excellence of the project teams; make sure appropriate consideration of risk management is taken by every team member and promote a strong awareness of and attitude towards the need for commercial success. Checking and reviewing the modelling done by the project teams will be an essential task. Effective communication with all team members whether this is design engineers, project managers, technical or commercial leads or contractors is also essential. You will bring your expertise to projects to ensure technical excellence to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently, to time and to budget.

Acting as part of the UK-wide wastewater modelling team, you will help to provide technical guidance and support to junior modellers throughout Mott MacDonald and you may be involved in checking, reviews and technical leadership as needed for the wider delivery of projects to all our clients. You will also get involved in further developing the effectiveness of the wider UK team.

You may wish to lead and manage a team of modellers, technicians and analysts although this is not essential. A gift for delivering classroom or online training sessions would be very welcome.

The successful candidate will preferably be qualified to degree level and chartered. You will also be an innovative thinker and an effective communicator; able to put across your ideas in a logical and coherent fashion in both oral presentations and written reports, and able to explain modelling issues and techniques to non-modelling professionals. You will have solid wastewater modelling experience.
