Assistant Communications Manager - Milton Keynes

My client, a nationwide leading FMCG organisation, is seeking a Communications Manager (External) - Corporate Affairs to join their term in an initial 3 month contract basis. The role will be based in Milton Keynes, with potential for extension, and further opportunities within the group.

The Communications Manager is an integral member of team and will support the delivery of key campaigns and projects that communicate the clients strategy to deliver what customers want, when they want it.

The role is suited to someone with strong experience in consumer PR, developing and maintaining strong media relationships and experience of working in a fast-paced retail environment.

Principle accountabilities:

. Assist the Senior Communications Manager/Communications Managers in delivering annual PR plans and the weekly proactive outreach programme
. Contribute creative ideas and collateral to generate ongoing content and maximise coverage opportunities across all media
. Draft media alerts, press releases, statements and other key collateral for approval
. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of target media, pages and columns, identifying ongoing opportunities for hero features and increased coverage
. Respond to reactive product press office enquiries, with support from the Lifestyle Communications Assistant
. Strengthen and maintain relationships with an ever-increasing range of key media across the UK and Republic of Ireland
. Line manage the Lifestyle Communications Assistant (C2) and take accountability for their tasks and workload
. Potential line management of PR intern
. Manage and report on the PR sample budget
. Manage the PR product unit at the Sample Centre and build relationships with key stakeholders there
. Set the strategy for and manage internal and external social media channels

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

. A passionate and creative PR professional with a minimum of two years' experience of working with big brands
. Ideally experience of working with retail brands (non-food)
. Excellent written and oral communication skills
. Rigorous with strong attention to detail
. Good interpersonal skills
. Strong media contacts and media relations experience
. Self-starter - highly motivated
. Solutions orientated - positive and results-focused
. Interest in the media, new media, and innovation in PR techniques
. Event production
