Reinsurance Technician

This individual shall provide underwriting support to the reinsurance underwriting team.

Please note this is initially a temporary contact role (1 year) with the potential to develop into a permanent position.

CORE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Managerial reporting – data manipulation
• Work with Underwriter to produce statistical and analytical reports for the underwriting function
• Provide high quality and effective technical and administrative support to Senior Underwriter
• Liaise and communicate with clients and brokers on the checking of slips/wordings/closings and endorsements
• Create and maintain underwriting files and systems in compliance with Underwriting Guidelines including monitoring submission flow, declinations, quotes and renewals
• Collecting, preparing and analysing the data that is used to evaluate and price R/I Marine and Aviation risks
• Assist with effective operation of risk controls, adhere to Managing Agent underwriting compliance checks, monitor premium closings and credit control
• General administrative and ad hoc office duties;

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Candidates MUST have a minimum of 5+ years of general London market experience. Reinsurance experience is ideal but not essential – willingness to learn is key.
• You will have good records management skills – inputting reinsurance risk records into the system, ensuring completeness of underwriting files and flagging gaps to Underwriter
• Candidates MUST be mathematically inclined
• Candidates MUST have a positive can do attitude with the desire to see that assigned tasks are completed
• Candidates MUST be IT literate, with a particular emphasis on Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook
• Candidates MUST have an excellent level of understanding in relation to Excel spread sheets
