Job Title: Estates Maintenance Technician

Salary: £17,300 - £19,479 (spinal points 13-17)

Job Role:
Our client is looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician within their Estates Department based at the Dunstable campus. Duties include general maintenance refurbishment of all College premises and security of all College grounds and buildings.
You will also be required to drive the College minibus and other vehicles on an ad hoc basis to carry out your duties (Minibus training can be provided).
- Maintaining day to day building readiness for curriculum delivery. The post holder will be expected to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by legislative, technical advice, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.
- To provide efficient and effective caretaking support to the College across all sites, including ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards and that heating/lighting systems operate at optimum efficiency.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of working in a similar environment
- Working knowledge of maintenance procedures and Health and Safety regulations.
You will have a confident disposition and enjoy working with a wide variety of people whilst promoting equality and respect. You will also be well organised, able to use your own initiative, flexible and reliable.
Candidates must also be available to cover on a week and weekend shift rota system.
Skills:
- Use skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry/joinery, painting to competent professional standard
- Practical ability for planning and organising tasks
- Ability to work effectively as part of the whole College team
- Practical ability to problem solve and use initiative
Qualifications
- PASMA Scaffold training certificate (or will to work towards)
- First aid at work (or willing to work towards)
- Evac chair training (or willing to work towards)
- Fire Marshall training (or willing to work towards)
- Midas certificate/D1 or clean driving licence and willingness to be a designated Midas minibus driver
