Role Purpose
The post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of IT projects from initial definition through to operational acceptance, to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.
Our client is embarking upon the delivery of a 3-year IT strategy, involving the delivery of significant transformation change, positively impacting the way they deliver service to their customers.
As part of the IT team, your role will be to support this strategy by delivering the key projects identified on the IT roadmap.
Your role in the programme is to ensure that the projects you manage deliver on time, within budget and meet the relevant acceptance criteria.
You will:
- Help to develop the project framework and champion iterative and collaborative delivery with internal and external teams alike, to achieve rapid benefit realisation across the business;
- Support the project sponsor with the identification of the strategic objectives of the project;
- Have the ability to manage concurrent projects successfully from inception to closure;
- Ensure all appropriate project documentation is created and maintained for the life of the project, including Baseline, PID, RACI & RAID and review these with key stakeholders and the business sponsor;
- Identify and prioritise complex tasks; carry out critical path analysis, perform contingency planning and risk management, taking corrective action where necessary;
- Work closely with the project team, ensuring that colleague representatives from all relevant teams are involved in a project, to deliver successful solutions and manage acceptance of change into relevant business functions, including operational handover;
- Lead the project team through problem resolution and risk mitigation activity, reporting upwards where necessary;
- Monitor all testing & implementation activity ensuring all activities are completed accurately;
- Prepare and deliver post-project reviews for business leaders and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements;
- Manage client & supplier relationships to aid the successful delivery of technical solutions.
Essential skills and experience:
- You will already be working in a fast-paced, commercial organisation as a project manager and be able to demonstrate your success, delivering software implementations and integration;
- A completer-finisher by nature with the ability to motivate a team to get things done;
- Previous experience of delivering complex software solutions where multiple solutions and software vendors are involved in the delivery;
- An engaging style and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across the business;
- An analytic and logical approach to problem-solving, technical competence and the willingness and enthusiasm to try out new ideas;
- Emotional intelligence, self-awareness and the ability to lead and motivate a team to succeed;
- An eye for detail but also can see the bigger picture;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
- Relevant project management certifications or accreditations (eg PRINCE2, MOR, APM etc.)
- A good understanding of delivering solutions within IT environments;
- An interest in technology & familiarisation with digital channels, such as customer portals & mobile applications would be greatly beneficial.
