About Eversheds Sutherland: Eversheds has the largest employment law team in the UK and one of the largest in the world. With more than 100 employment lawyers and more recognised experts in the UK than any other firm, we have the expertise and resources to deal with matters of any size and complexity. The quality of work we can offer is unparalleled. Our clients include many of the world's largest and most sophisticated employers and the matters we advise on range from multi-jurisdictional projects to high value litigation in the Employment Tribunals and the High Court. We are regularly advising on ground breaking or high profile employment cases. The vast majority of the work is standalone employment work, not corporate support. Much of it has an international element. Our employment lawyers are supported by a team of PSLs and have access to resources and training of the highest quality. For example, all of our junior lawyers undertake our own accredited training course which leads to them receiving a diploma in employment law. Key responsibilities: We are seeking an Associate to join the Edinburgh team to handle the whole range of employment law work, both contentious and non-contentious. The team in Edinburgh acts for a wide spectrum of clients across a variety of sectors. Skills and experience: You will form an integral part of the employment team. The culture of the team is collegiate and supportive. Whilst supervision is always available, members of the team are expected to take responsibility for managing their own matters from an early stage in their careers. You will have plenty of client contact and are likely to have the opportunity to go on secondment to a client at some stage. You will be expected to have a "can do" attitude and to take an active role in helping the team to grow client relationships and develop business. Key competencies: We anticipate that the successful candidate will be around 2 - 3 years qualified, although we will consider applications from candidates with a greater level of experience. You should be a team player, client focused and a good communicator with a strong practical and commercial approach to your workload and advice to clients. You will have a genuine enthusiasm for employment law, be passionate about delivering an excellent service to clients and welcome the opportunity to engage in business development. Depending on the level of their experience, candidates should be expected to demonstrate detailed knowledge of employment law. Exposure to relevant specialist areas such as international employment law, High Court procedure, financial services regulation or industrial relations would be an advantage, but is not essential. We're a modern, progressive law firm. We think differently and we've built a culture where individual skills and personalities can shine through. At Eversheds, we believe that innovation comes from a culture of genuine equality and diversity and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or once in post. Eversheds endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly. However, when we do need to engage with agencies, Eversheds operates within a preferred supplier list.
