The Assistant Financial Controller/Management Accountant will work closely with the Financial Controller providing support in relation to the preparation of monthly sales reports, management accounts, tax compliance, management of fixed asset ledger, overseeing the purchase and sales ledger whilst providing leadership for the Finance Team and being a key point of contact for other departments around the business.

With this role you will be required to take full responsibility for planning, accuracy and performance of own work as well as that of a team of 4/5. Capable of creative and innovative commercial considerations. Relishes challenges. Attention to detail, forward planning and ability to manage and prioritise workload are essential. Ability to make a significant difference to the company's processes Strong numeracy skills are essential. You will need to ensure all accounting information is kept up to date and accurate and that all reporting SLA's are met whether internal or external. Ensuring the financial systems are robust and controls are in place and are continually reviewed

Job Responsibilities

  • Aiding with financial operations, including reporting, provisions, forecasting, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, cashflow control, stock control and fixed asset register.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of the monthly accounting close ensuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsibility for preparation of the quarterly VAT return.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of monthly sales figures.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
  • Responsibility for the management of the cardnet accounts, including set up of new merchant numbers, chargebacks and general maintenance.
  • Assisting with the preparation of forecasts and budgets and monthly reviews on performance.
  • Preparation of quarterly royalty returns.
  • Preparation of the quarterly sales submissions.
  • Preparation of statutory filings, eg Annual return.
  • Assist with the year-end audit.
  • Development of a robust divisional reporting suite.
  • Management and development of a team.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate, influence and implement within the business.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own work, as well as that of a team.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent.
  • Evidence of keeping up to date with CPD requirements.

Experience

  • Experience of preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation.
  • Supervisory experience, desirable.

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages, with good knowledge of Excel.
  • Good knowledge of Sage.
  • BI Skills; knowledge of creation of dashboards.
