We are currently looking for an individual who can demonstrate flexibility, sensitivity and commitment as well as understanding the complex issues faced by those with ranging learning disabilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which are committed to work in a dynamic service that provide short break accommodation (respite) for up to 6 adults with a wide range of learning and physical disabilities, sensory needs, challenging behaviours, and complex healthcare needs. Whilst previous experience and qualifications would be beneficial, attitude and passion are much more important.   

To assist the service users with personal care and support, following their individual support plans, risk assessments and routines. To ensure the premises are safe and secure at night. To maintain a safe environment for the service users during the night. Administration of prescribed medication as needed. To work flexible hours, including, bank holidays, weekends and some daytime hours (e.g., for team meetings and training) and to be responsive to the needs of the service as a whole.

We believe that respite care should be a gateway to greater independence and an enjoyable experience for our clients and also to give families a chance to rest from the pressure of caring for their loved ones.   

You will seek to promote a culture that enables clients to make informed choices and respect their needs and wishes; you will be actively working in partnership with families, the Local Authority (Merton) and Healthcare professional to provide a holistic and tailored care.   

You will need to be a committed team player with the ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team, you’ll play a vital role in service delivery inside and outside the unit; providing emotional and practical support to clients on an individual basis, assisting them with personal care, administering medication, and developing living/social skills. 

You should be able to demonstrate with a practical approach to problem solving and evidence of organizational skills both of which will be required in the updating of clients records.
