Board Member – Voluntary Post 
Dartmouth, Devon

The Organisation: 

Our client is an independent statutory body that is responsible for the management and conservation of Dartmouth’s harbours and river. They are now looking for a number of Board Members to help drive the future strategy of their organisation. 

The Role: 

As a Board Member, you will determine our client’s strategic policies. 

In this voluntary role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive, lasting difference and support the ongoing conservation of stunning maritime locations. 

Making constructive contributions to group strategic thinking, you will work with a dedicated team who share your passion for preserving beautiful sites that are integral to Dartmouth’s history. 

You will act as a key decision maker and will be in a position to influence the values, culture and direction of the organisation, making this the ideal role in which to really make your mark. 


The role is not onerous, but Board Members are expected to attend a monthly Board Meeting and may be appointed to represent the Authority on local stakeholder groups.

About You: 

Ideally, our client is looking for Board Members with experience in one of the following: 

- Project management 
- Merchant marine 
- Marine engineering 

However, our client is also seeking applications from candidates who have experience or expertise in one of the following areas: 

- Maritime 
- Health and safety or environment 
- Public relations 
- Shipping 
- Fishing 
- Leisure 
- Boating management 
- The voluntary or commercial sector 

Due to the requirements of this role, the successful candidates must live within a 30 minute commute of Dartmouth. 

Other organisations may call this role Voluntary Board Member, Non-Executive Director, NED, Independent Board Member or Trust Port Board Member. 

Our client is eager to hear from candidates with experience as a Finance Director, Marine Engineering Manager, Head of Shipping, Maritime Manager or PR Director, to name a few.
