Compliance Officer (Enforcement)
We have a new exciting opportunity, not to be missed! At Anglia Revenues Partnership we are currently looking for a Compliance Officer (Enforcement) to support the team at ARP, Breckland Council. We are looking to recruit two Compliance Officers, one to be employed on a permanent basis and one on a fixed term contract until 1st May 2019. You will work 37 hours per week and will receive a competitive salary of £17,128 per annum (pro rata). This role will mainly be office based in Thetford however, you may be required to work at other sites within the partnership area.
The aim of Anglia Revenues Partnership is to run an efficient Council Tax collection and Housing benefits distribution service while reducing administration costs to each council. By coming together, each council can save money by pooling resources and staff.
More about the Compliance Officer (Enforcement) role
We are seeking a self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic candidate to undertake a full range of recovery duties. This is to ensure that all income due in respect of recovery of debt and other charges are promptly and efficiently collected in a helpful and courteous manner.
Key responsibilities of the Compliance Officer (Enforcement)
In this role you will politely and courteously contact Council tax or Business rates debtors to negotiate payment of arrears and costs using the schemes as agreed with each Authority, through written correspondence, by telephone or in person.
Other duties will include;
- Ensuring that uncollectable debts are returned to the Authority for further action without unnecessary delay.
- Liaise with Enforcement Agents, internal service areas and senior managers.
- Considering further methods of Recovery (Charging Order, Insolvency & Committal) and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation for Council Tax, NNDR, Sundry debts and Enforcement legislation.
What we’re looking for in our Compliance Officer (Enforcement)
We are seeking a team player, who understands the importance of confidentiality, can demonstrate first class service skills especially when communicating in difficult situations and preferably with knowledge of Debt Recovery, although full training will be provided. A good general education and experience of MS Office is essential for this role.
