This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is self-motivated and highly organised to join one of the leading charities working to promote the teaching of mindfulness to young people. MiSP has recently become a charity and is looking for a part time Assistant Accountant with robust technical skills to join its finance team. We particularly want someone who shares our passion for promoting mindfulness in schools and improving the well being of all young people and those who care for them. This role is to be part time initially with the successful candidate expected to work 15 hours a week over 5 days a week, to support the Finance Manager and the broader MiSP team. The successful candidate would be working in the Tonbridge office primarily on Monday and Tuesdays with the remaining hours at home. The salary is in the region of GBP 25,000 pro rata depending on experience with employment pension benefits. Annual leave is 30 days pro rata in addition to public holidays. Duties to include Working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial systems Ensuring compliance with all organisation polices, including (but not exclusively) expenses and purchasing Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis Producing a monthly balance sheet and aged debtors report Approving invoices and expenses as ready for payment. This will include ensuring that items have been correctly coded for VAT purposes and that all relevant receipts and supporting documentation have been submitted. Ensuring income and expenditure is correctly coded within the accounting system. In conjunction with the Finance Officer, ensuring that applications are processed and sales invoices are raised daily and all records relating to applications are kept up to date. Provide cover for the other bookkeeper to ensure that the finance inbox is always monitored. To assist the Finance Manager with the production of the annual financial statements and other reporting as required Any other duties which may be reasonably required, particularly as the charity grows and develops Key skills and required experience AAT qualification or equivalent At least two years' experience, including a secure knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and VAT Strong attention to detail The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing Excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills, including a good sense of humour The ability to prioritise and successfully multi task when necessary Excellent IT skills, including strong skills in Word and Excel and the ability to quickly pick up Xero An awareness of data protection requirements.
