Transport Scheduler / Planner
GBP27,165 (GBP30,665 after Probation)

We are looking for an experienced transport scheduler to work in a busy and faced paced commercial transport department responsible for scheduling bus services across the North West and Wales. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of planning commercial vehicles along with an analytical and problem solving approach.
Key Responsibilities:-
- To ensure that services are scheduled in a legal, punctual, reliable and cost effective manner within structured deadlines.
- To provide accurate information on scheduling, regarding cost, efficiency's, statistics and the implications of planned service changes.
- Construct bus workings and timetables for maximum efficiency of buses and punctuality.
- Schedule bus workings into workable duties within agreed Local Parameters to ensure the maximum efficiency of driver time and adhere to the relevant drivers' hours' legislation.
- Create rosters, from duty compilations, that are robust, practical and efficient, and adhere to the relevant driver's hours' legislation both EU and Domestic.
- Input and maintenance of service and stop mapping using NaPTAN Management Information
- Measure performance with regard to efficiency using KPI and other performance indicators.
- Distribution of all scheduling information to the relevant departments.
- Ensure all duty and roster files are uploaded into the Grampian Driver Allocation system.
- Ensure all service files are uploaded for the Mileage, Ticketing, GPS and RTI systems.
- Ensure that all Electronic Bus Service registrations are completed and submitted accurately and within timescale.
- Identify, validate and implement improvement to network, including those based on changes in demand or customer behaviour.
- Devise solutions for contracted work opportunities to maximise costing efficiencies for bids.
- Consult and liaise with all internal and external bodies.
- Additional tasks and projects required by management.
Skills and Experience:-
- Previous planning and scheduling experience within a commercial and public transport planning
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills and ability to problem solve (essential)
- Scheduling experience and knowledge of scheduling computer systems an advantage.
- Excellent Computer Literacy
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Experience of scheduling for bus services (desirable)
- Strong customer service skills
- Logical way of thinking
