PHP Developer
This company creates software that changes the way businesses and individuals experience learning. They research some of biggest problems in learning and performance, with a view to developing technologies that can help, even if that's just in a small way. They are really good at solving big, emergent problems with simple, intuitive technology. They are inspired by places like the MIT Media Lab; they are a group of ambitious, research driven professionals, trying to develop the next big breakthrough in online learning. Who should apply? They are looking for someone, with a very strong understanding of Javascript technologies and frameworks, to work closely alongside the PHP team. The ideal candidate will have commercial experience of using React (and related libraries like Redux) to create responsive experiences powered by RESTful APIs. Someone who also has an understanding of PHP and MySQL would be a major bonus. They would be someone who is enthusiastic about the latest developments in client-side languages and frameworks, and is not afraid to dabble with transpilers and polyfills to enable modern programming practices on all major platforms. If this doesn't perfectly describe you yet, but you are heading in that direction, then do get in touch. Technology Stack They primarily use open source tools and frameworks like git, PHP, Laravel, React, MySQL, Javascript, node, mongo, npm, HTML, CSS, SASS, Webpack, Babel, Linux, Nginx, travis, Vagrant and AWS. The stack is always evolving and your input will help shape the future. Team and Culture You will be working in an amazing team of talented developers and supported by an equally talented team of product managers, designers, software architects and dev ops. They are a close knit team with a great atmosphere that has elements of both a family firm and a modern startup. In recent months they have expanded their operations by opening a US office in Boston and taking on new staff there and in their Oxfordshire based HQ. In Return They offer a generous salary package with flexible working options plus pension contributions and 25 days paid holiday per year from day one. They are committed and passionate about giving people better opportunities in life through learning. They take their mission seriously, but they are small enough to remain flexible and enjoyable as a work environment - office dogs, standing desks and unlimited supplies of cake - they have nailed the whole 'startup' thing.
