We have a new opportunity available for a Court Usher working within the Ministry of Justice in Colchester. This is a temporary position and offers £7.50 per hour which will increase to £7.76 after 12 weeks. You will be working 37 hours each week Monday-Friday and the assignment is expected to run until February 2018 but this could be extended.
The duties of a Court Usher are varied, the main aim is keeping court proceedings running as smoothly as possible. Communication is key as you will be speaking to a range of people including law proffessionals, witnesses, judges and defendants. Duties will involve setting up the court room, arranging case notes, keeping people informed as to changes in hearing times and completing ad hoc administration duties using their in house computer system, Word and Excel.
The successful candidate will need to under take a criminal record background check, this costs £44 and will be reimburrsed when you start in the booking. You must be prepared to come to Chelmsford to complete the vetting paperwork.
