We have been instructed to recruit for a freelance Cost Engineer for one of the biggest civils projects in the South West, the Hinckley Point C. The sections of works you will be undertaking include earthworks, civil & structural engineering works and new road construction so previous experience within these areas would be highly advantageous.

This is being managed by two international companies who are working in partnership so this is a prime opportunity for you to work with two established organisations who span multiple sectors including rail, power, water, building and natural resources. Not only are they working on the Hinkley Point project but also have a number of projects which will also give you scope for progression and the possibility of seeking permanent employment if you so desire.

As the cost engineer your responsibilities will include;

* Accountable for day-to-day collection of all cost information.
* Responsible for the operation of cost management process.
* Manage budgets - non-manual and manual people job hour and cost control.
* Manage budgets - equipment, plant, material and subcontract cost control.
* Responsible for the reporting of costs against activities and to provide metrics and comparisons between actual cost of works performed and budgeted cost of works performed.
* Responsible for collation and the management of quantity tracking/ variances.
Prepare / collate inputs into the weekly and monthly reporting on cost flow forecast, cash flow forecast and cost value reporting.
* Management of the defined cost forecasts and all associated reporting, cost capture and allocations.
* Manage project trends including the support of estimating the values, coordinating review meetings and attaining approvals for incorporation in to the current budget and forecast.
* Provide support to the project controls team

To be successful in this role, it is anticipated that you will hold:

* A Quantity Surveying or Commercially related qualification
* Experience in cost control of civil construction packages
* Good interpersonal skills to
* Full UK driving licence
