For over 80 years, we have created lighting products which have become British design classics. In that time, we have redefined all a table lamp has been and can be. More recently we have been broadening our product ranges with world-class industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange, including our collaboration with Sir Paul Smith. The business is in a global expansion phase with rapid growth in our distribution and sales channels. This is a new and exciting role based at our Farlington office, near Portsmouth.

The Merchandiser / Demand & Supply Planner Role:

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, plan and implement the strategy and actions to enable us to sell our products globally, in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right price.

Merchandiser / Demand & Supply Planner Responsibilities:

Product/Stock Planning and Execution:


+ Create, analyse and report on relevant product and sales figures to anticipate future product needs
+ Own and manage all stock forecasting, taking into account supplier’s production schedules, products currently at sea, major sales/projects, SKU annual forecasts, etc.
+ Work closely with Sales and Design to determine annual forecasts and initial order quantities for new product launches
+ Manage stock holdings to their lowest levels possible whilst meeting our customers’ needs
+ Oversee the order placement process for all products at all factories
+ Work closely with our supply chain to ensure delivery on time and to specification
+ Manages any issues or challenges that arise with the supply chain or shipping services
+ Coordinate logistics for shipping of products from factories to global warehousing
+ Where appropriate, organise logistics for completing order fulfilment
+ Stock control of all components and sub-assemblies for UK made products
+ Develop and maintain a good understanding of Anglepoise product range

Technical Knowledge:

+ Excellent level of competence in the use of the Microsoft Excel
+ Excellent data analytical skills for identifying trends, risk and opportunities
+ Good level of competence in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
+ Good level of competence in the use of the relevant parts of Sage 200 (or similar)

Project Management:

+ Responsible for successfully managing designated projects 
+ Establishes project specific goals, communicates them effectively to all project stakeholders, and devises strategies in order to meet them effectively and efficiently

Communication:

+ Lead and assist in the facilitation of team, customer and supplier/partner meetings
+ Develops lasting relationships with suppliers/partners that foster strong ties with them
+ Understands expectations that were set with suppliers/partners and recognizes when issues/events may affect delivery

About You:

We are looking for a highly competent and professional person with extensive experience of merchandising / demand and supply planning. You will have:

+ Applicable Degree or HNC/HND, in Maths, Statistics, Business, Economics or similar
+ 3+ years’ experience in an applicable merchandising / demand planning role
+ Proven ability to take full responsibility for entire stock planning processes
+ Very strong analytical and planning skills, expert in Excel 
+ An all-encompassing desire to roll up your sleeves and get the job done

Reporting Relationship:

The Merchandiser will report to the Operations Director.
