The company has a vacancy for an experienced Payroll Officer to join their friendly Human Resources Team at their Accolade Park site in Bristol which employs over 500 people. This is a great opportunity and they will even support you should you wish to progress your CIPP qualification. Their site in Bristol has fantastic facilities including an on-site subsidised staff gym and subsidised canteen in addition to a staff wine shop.
Their innovative Bristol site houses the largest bottling plant in the Northern Hemisphere bottling up to 1 million bottles of wine per day. They are proud of their manufacturing awards and commitment to the environment ensuring none of their waste goes to landfill.
The Accolade Park site is in Avonmouth Bristol and is a short drive from the M4 / M5 with free onsite parking. In addition there is a bus service from Bristol City Centre and St Andrews Train station is local
About the Role:
This role provides a fully managed, accurate and timely payroll and query support service to all staff employed in the UK business. Their payroll consists of one monthly pay cycle of 570 employees based in two locations (Bristol and Weybridge) and includes office based and industrial employees. Reporting to our Global HRIS and European Payroll Manager you will also support additional payroll and systems activities. You will have full autonomy in the role and will be encouraged to identify and implement improvements. You'll also get the opportunity to get an insight into our European payroll. You will be part of a lively team who support each other and work closely together so expect to make new friends. Your key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of payroll by entering all variable data (such as overtime and absence) and ensuring all leavers, changes and joiners are captured accurately.
- Quality checking - payroll accuracy, reconciled and processed so all employees are paid accurately (less than 0.3% error rate) and on time.
- Ensuring all third parties are communicated to and are paid as per monthly schedule, such as HMRC, pension provider, childcare vouchers and government bodies.
- Supporting our annual salary review processes (both office and unionised collective pay agreement for industrial) in both the HRIS and payroll system.
- Supporting the year end payroll procedure and processes.
- Providing support to the HR Information System team with day to day query/issue management.
- Posting the monthly payroll general ledger file to the company finance system.
- Continuously reviewing our payroll processes and aim to suggest and implement improvements wherever possible.
- Check the outsourced mainland European payrolls (six countries with between 1 and 10 employees in each country) and arrange for payment with internal finance department.
About you:
It's important that you have experience of independently processing an end to end payroll cycle, ideally for 12 months and possess technical UK payroll knowledge.
It is essential that you have knowledge and understanding of the application of HMRC statutory payments & deductions such as PAYE, NI, RT, SMP and Auto Enrolment. Experience of using NGA Resource Link payroll software would be advantageous. You'll hit the ground running and will be eager to make this role your own, always looking for a better way to do things. You'll have a keen eye for detail and enjoy working autonomously. You'll be a whiz on Excel and confident with V look up and Pivot tables.
