School Caretaker job in Bath

Your new company
A secondary school in central Bath are in need of a trustworthy caretaker to start ASAP. The role will be working shifts which are split with the Schools' Site Manager up until the October half term, with the possibility to be an ongoing placement. The school are part of a close community where the facilities are used by the public on a daily basis. The school has state of the art classrooms and sports facilities which have a very clear timetable of what facilities are used and when.

Your new role
The role is will include to unlock and lock up the school every day, this can vary from opening the school in the morning to closing it after all facilities have finished, this will be organised with the Site Manager. The role will be full-time hours, as well as being responsible for the school's security, you will also be responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of the school's grounds and facilities. This will involve any handyman duties, checking the fire alarm and attending to any call outs. You will also be asked to assist with a variety of Health and Safety checks and Risk assessments on a daily basis.

What you'll need to succeed

• Recent, relevant experience of working within schools in a Site Technician/Caretaker capacity
• Experience of working on a variety of school caretaking tasks, such as security, general maintenance, and handy person duties including basic repairs, painting and decorating, minor plumbing works, improvement and refurbishments.
• Able to use your own initiative and demonstrate the ability to solve unexpected or new problems in a methodical, efficient manner.
• Able to learn new skills, expand your current skill set and be able to pass on knowledge and techniques to others. You will be able to demonstrate good general interpersonal and communication skills, be able to deal with conflicting demands, and work flexibly.
• Any person working in an educational establishment must hold an enhanced DBS check.
