My client is a global market leading group which is engaged in the design and manufacture of sophisticated precision products and assemblies into the defence, aerospace, medical, automotive, telecoms and R&D OEM sectors.

We are looking for a Product Manager to join the senior management team who are are happy visioning and implementing positive change.

Job Purpose:

Reporting into the General Manager, the Group Product Management Director is:

* is a member of the global senior leadership team having responsibility for meeting business performance commitments to key stakeholders.
* has overall responsibility and accountability for the group product management team (AO & PO) performance.
* is the Process Owner for product management processes and is responsible for Continuous Improvement of those processes.
* Is responsible for own designated product portfolio (Aerospace & Defence).

The Product Management function provides overall leadership, in collaboration with internal groups such as Sales, Marketing and R&D, in the development of requirements specifications, setting of product priorities and direction as well as driving for delivery of product releases. He/she collaborates with outward facing groups to develop go to market materials and messaging. The job holder should possess a blend of business and technical knowledge, big-picture vision, and have a passion for realization of that vision.

Core responsibilities include:

* Ownership of all assigned/approved products - responsible for driving product cost, margin, delivery quality, roadmap and performance objectives. Contributes to sales forecasting, growth plans and budget process.
* Management of the complete product lifecycle including cost and product portfolio optimization
* Create an annual budget plan for the group's product portfolio(s) and own designated portfolio, including product pricing plan and market plan
* Understanding the market space, opportunities and competitive forces within to ensure product roadmap alignment (Aerospace & Defence).
* Generation and management of market/user requirements for current and future products via research supported by on-going customer, partner and industry contacts.
* Translating market requirements into product concepts and driving a solution that R&D can implement to deliver successful products.
* Analysing potential partner relationships for the product(s).
* Collaborating with Marketing in the generation of product launch materials & collateral that excite sales and customers alike.
* Acting as the champion for the product(s) assigned, both internally and externally to the target partners. Regular travel to develop existing and prospective customers, can be intensive at times.
* Development and ownership of product roadmaps to move beyond the current selling proposition and introduce products that add value thereby extending company's penetration of the respective markets.
* Cross functional team leader and owner for all associated new product development activities.

Educational Background:

* Engineering (Optics/Electronics/Mechanical/Software) and/or Business Degree.

Knowledge and experience required:

* 5+ year's experience in a product management, development, sales or marketing role including at least 2 years in a managerial position as member of a multi-function, leadership team.
* Proven internal and customer facing presentation skills.
* Strong critical questioning ability in relation to technical issues.
* Demonstrated leadership skills.
* Experience in technical design, project management and relationship management essential.
* Ability to communicate appropriate expectations in relation to product deliverables.
* Proven experience in commercial negotiation of large customer accounts.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
