How Your WIll Make A Difference:The Sr. Applications Scientist will be the subject matter expert for the sample storage ecosystem which includes products from Matrix, Nalgene, Nunc, and Abgene consumables as well as complementary Thermo Scientific equipment such as decappers, plate sealers, and barcode readers. The Sr. Applications Scientist will be responsible for developing the applications roadmap that feeds the 3 year vision for new technology introductions and new production introductions. You will work closely with the business development manager, product managers, applications/technical support, engineering, and customers to collect VOC, coordinate competitive benchmarking, lead alpha/beta site trials, and evaluate new technology from discovery phase through product launch. In addition, you will author and present white papers, application notes, and technical briefs at industry tradeshows while providing customer consultation and commercial training.
What You Will Get to Do:Responsibilities include defining new/emerging/niche applications, assessing competition, technology transfer, engaging start-ups / strategic ventures, application testing, and working across Thermo Fisher Scientific to deliver differentiated solutions. The Sr. Applications Scientist will build relationships with key opinion leaders in the industry as well as working across Thermo Fisher Scientific to identify synergistic technologies for commercialization. Responsibilities: Work with key opinion leaders, product managers, and engineering to create application roadmaps and deliver products that anticipate and intersect with customer needs. Investigate niche, emerging, or adjacent markets for global development Coordinate competitive benchmarking and assist with product positioning Maintain relationships with key customers to develop them into reference customers for next gen product development and VOC collection Works closely with the Business Development Manager and Sr. Business Director to create strategic plan and vision. Lead the investigation of new organic and inorganic technology, IP, and licensing for new product assimilation Support annual marketing campaigns with technical data and positioning Attend tradeshows, sales meetings, and other activities to present/support/explore growth. Deliver customer training and consultation on projects
Minimum Qualifications PhD in Science. Concentration in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry preferred. 3+ years of work experience at a Biobank and or with Genomics, Biomarkers, Drug Discovery, Stem Cells, or the Pharmaceutical Workflow Strategic thinker, able to create strategy, and adapt to grow faster than the market Must possess strong interpersonal, presentation, communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills. Proven track record of managing multiple complex individual and team assignments autonomously and executing on time. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, entrepreneurial mindset. A team player with a bias for action and driving projects to completion. Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally. Fluent in written and spoken English.
