Lead Horticultural Worker / Support Worker
Purpose of Job
You will have responsibility for leading team of people are supporting people who have learning disabilities in day-to-day workings of our smallholding called Derwen Cornel. You will therefore be required to have some in-depth knowledge of horticultural skills and vegetable production. You will take a lead in this area of work. You will also be part of our successful social enterprise CoOptions providing a wide range of services to the local community.
Excellent team leadership skills are a key role. The post requires a multi-skilled and flexible approach to the tasks required of you. You must be a full licence holder able to drive small commercial vehicles.
You will be part of an established team developing our small farm Derwen Cornel. We are growing food within poly tunnels and directly from the field. We also keep Chickens and Alpacas. You will also develop our veg box scheme and market stall and improve our commercial outlook.

Demonstrable proof of high levels of horticultural knowledge (fruit, vegetables)
Growing a wide variety of vegetables, fruit and herbs from seed to harvest preferably in line with organic principals.
Excellent inter-personal skills used to lead teams and supporting them (confident and friendly approach) Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience of working with vulnerable people with learning disabilities
Managing resources and people in planned way
Team leadership and monitoring of plans
Desire to maximise income from services and products for example through a veg box scheme and market stall.
Good knowledge and ability to use marketing through social media.
