Where is it you want me to volunteer?
We are looking for people to volunteer as befrienders across Trafford and Manchester.

The Befriending Service provides personalised one to one companionship for people with dementia, either in their own home or during outings and activities in the community.
What would I be doing?
You would be joining a growing movement of local people who are actively helping to combat social isolation for people affected by dementia. This is a volunteering opportunity which will fit flexibly with your existing responsibilities, but which requires commitment to undertake training and engage in regular supervision. If you are interested in making a real difference as a volunteer befriender, please get in touch.

You will not be asked or expected to provide personal care; the role is one of companionship only.

Please note that this role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and volunteers need to be aged 18 or over.

In order to provide the person with dementia with stability and to allow time for trusting relationships to be developed, we ask that you are able to commit for at least 12 months.
How much time do you expect me to commit?
2-3 hours once a week or fortnight.
How do I apply for this role?
To apply for this opportunity please email:

Alzheimer's Society is an equal opportunities employer.
