The Alliance is Network Rail and Amey Sersa working together in a collaborative way to deliver world class renewals. The Alliance is bringing new technology and innovation including renewal techniques not previously used in the UK. The S&C North Alliance undertakes multi-disciplinary design, construction and commissioning of Switch & Crossing renewal and enhancement works on the UK rail network. It covers the East Coast Main Line, Midland Main Line, part of the West Coast Main Line and all of Scotland.
We deliver renewal, enhancement and refurbishment of new and existing high and low speed junctions, station remodelling schemes and line speed increases.

Brief Description

The Engineering Programme Manager will manage the engineering, design and where applicable project development, of all schemes for the Alliance so they comply with the requirements of the GRIP4Track project lifecycle process, relevant standards and regulatory obligations and are ultimately capable of acceptance back onto the network.
This post principally covers the LNE and East Midlands routes however support and collaboration with the Scotland and LNW post holder will be required. The successful candidate will be required to be frequently present in York and Doncaster as well as other travelling as required.
The successful candidate for this post could be a Network Rail or an AmeySersa employee.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities
• Develop and manage the team structure and processes to deliver and review engineering outputs to support the programme schedule, budget and quality requirements.
• In line with programme requirements, identify and manage the introduction of new systems on the network, where applicable, including systems/safety approvals and monitoring so that processes and documentation exist for sustained network usage.
• Develop safety, quality and environmental approvals processes within the programme including staff development and competence.
• Identify and manage the programme engineering budget along with providing support information determining the overall programme budget.
• Manage all engineering and project development activities result so that they in schemes that are affordable, and that meet Programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
• Provide professional functional leadership for engineering within the programme, in accordance with policies set up by the Engineering function.
• Manage the appropriate validation and verification of engineering activity.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
• Chartered Engineer with relevant successful experience of Programme Management within the Railway Industry or other complex E&M industries/projects.
• University degree in electrical engineering.
• Membership of an appropriate Professional Institution.
• Relevant experience of railway engineering systems and equipment, and implementation.
• Construction design management competence.
• Six Sigma Champion.
Desirable
• Experience of large programmes/projects.
• Experience of leading railway engineering design & development works.

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: GBP77,414 - GBP87,091.
