This is a superb career opportunity for a highly experienced manufacturing professional who has a world-class background combining production and logistics and is up to date with the use and implementation of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
The client is a subsidiary of a highly successful, industry leading international group operating from a single site with c750 colleagues. It manufactures a broad range of products on a batch production basis utilising a wide range of materials and an extended supply chain, there is a large skilled workforce in place and processes involve lots of multi-stage assembly and finishing operations.
Reporting to the Chief Operations and Customer Service Officer this is a new senior role marking a stage in the development of this key site whereby the close affiliation of production and logistics is possible. You will liaise with senior colleagues in R&D, Finance, Customer Services and Sales and the focus of the role is to deliver the 3 year plan integrating production, material storage and control, production planning and order fulfilment whilst also promoting, driving and delivering continuous improvement programmes to ensure smooth material flow and maximum productivity and efficiency.
The role will embrace the day to day leadership of senior colleagues in production, materials planning, warehouse, stores, order intake and shipping and you will ensure best practice throughout. As the Client operates in a highly competitive marketplace, there is a strong need for lean manufacturing processes to be built into operations and additionally the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing in an efficient way will also feature in the role.
Candidates will need to be highly qualified, impressive individuals with world-class operations and logistics experience in a similar environment. Graduate qualified; probably in a technical or engineering discipline, you will have built a progressive career in world-class manufacturing companies. You will have been trained in lean manufacturing, understand a total quality approach and have a real experience of implementing change management. Your career will have been built in high volume operational leadership and include experience of Kanban and Trackside Feed into production. You will be strong in operational planning and have experience of working with customers who demand right-first- time delivery. You will need to be a hands-on leader and motivator with strong communication skills, capable of developing and leading multi-disciplinary teams and have up to date knowledge of best practice using advanced operational and quality tools.
