Student Care Officers

Actual starting salary for 42 hours per week,

38 weeks per year = £14,955.00

Exeter Deaf Academy provides nurturing education and care tailored to the individual needs of Deaf young people. 

The sense of belonging to an inspiring bilingual community transforms students as they develop language skills and journey towards independence and fulfilling their own potential. 

Later this year the Academy will begin to build a groundbreaking, purpose-built facility scheduled to open in 2019.

This new world-class Academy will change the lives of Deaf students. It will break down barriers to Deaf young people, bring communities together and enable families to thrive.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed individuals to provide care and support to our students, aged 4 - 21 years.  

The role will involve working on a shift rota pattern incl. evenings, weekends and possibly some night work.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supervising students before and after the school/college day including meal times
  • Assisting in the behaviour management of students
  • Working as part of a team to provide a programme of evening & weekend activities for students
  • Assisting with the medical and physical needs of students

 
Key Requirements:

  • NVQ level 3 in Care (or a commitment to work towards it)
  • A British Sign Language qualification or commitment to achieve this (training will be given)
  • Experience of team work and planning & co-ordinating activities in conjunction with others
  • Desire to work with young people
