This company is a privately held British software development company focused on geographic information systems (GIS) and web mapping software, with a broad portfolio of products, a wide range of UK and international partners, and a diverse user base.
As their sole Technical Author, you will help communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately to customers and partners and manage all aspects of software documentation.
You will be responsible for gathering information from Product Managers, Developers, QA and Technical Services teams to produce a range of online documentation, including user and developer guides. The role will require you to take ownership of all software documentation and ensure accurate content is created and maintained over the life cycle of the different products.
This is a permanent role, offering a highly competitive salary and an attractive benefits package.
Experience
- A technical author with at least three years experience in the software industry creating online / web content.
- Expertise in a desktop editing package, ideally MadCap Flare or similar authoring software
- Use of screen capture and image editing software
- Knowledge of HTML and related technologies
- Native Level English speaker with excellent written communication skills
- Degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably with a scientific or engineering background
- Some experience of documenting API would be beneficial

- An ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and systems, and communicate them effectively
- Enthusiastic with a passion for learning and willingness to explore the boundaries of their software
