The Role… A vacancy has arisen for a Transport Planner for a fixed term period for DFDS Logistics in Larkhall. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and fast paced, growing business. The role is to be a point of coordination and contact for hauliers/ drivers, and commercial/ transport departments where issues relating to operation and service are communicated and handled in a satisfactory manner.
Who we want… You will be responsible for keeping the transport management systems updated within the functions of transport planning such as collections, delivers, shipment, driver ordered and equipment. Additional duties will include: Responsibilities for developing and maintaining relationships. You should have a good awareness of market developments of competitors/ suppliers/ hauliers. You will allocate jobs to drivers whilst maintaining open channels. You should ensure daily deliveries are booked in accordance with customer requirements. Reporting to customers and failures in performance. Receiving, processing and creation of bookings. Ensuring area to area balance on a daily basis and keep empty running at a minimum, seeking acceptable spot-traffic where required. Ensure customer requirements are on-time with appropriate equipment utilised and/ or seeking alternative to meet requirements. Proactively manage the business KPI’s and update accordingly. Follow procedures set out prior to engaging in any new business. Follow procedures set out prior to allocating work to new hauliers. Any other duties that may be required from time to time by management
