JOB TITLE: Nursing Support Assistant (RGN positions are also available)

THE COMPANY: Our client was established in 2003 with the aim of providing outstanding care. They currently have 8 care homes in Hampshire and 1 in Bedford providing Residential and Nursing Care for Older People.
Our client is now looking to recruit Nursing Support Assistants and RGN positions for their home based in Gosport, Hampshire.
THE ROLE: As part of the care team the post holder will carry out person centred care including routine personal care duties for residents in support of the Managers & Registered Nurses. The Nursing Support Assistant will be working supervised until they have successfully met all the outcomes in the Skills For Care Common Induction Standards / Care Certificate and are safe to leave alone with responsibility for the individuals she/he is supporting at this stage.
Key responsibilities / objectives of a Nursing Support Assistant to include:-
• To provide the physical care to residents through a person centred approach to enable them to complete daily activities, i.e. personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest, sleep and activity.
• To maintain effective communications with residents, and work in partnership with relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and resident's needs are met within the boundaries of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
• To report any observed changes in the resident's physical / psychological / social / behavioural needs and participate in maintaining up to date records to ensure effective communication.
• To be able to undertake domestic roles within the home as needed such as general housekeeping & kitchen organisation in the event of crisis.
• To be actively acknowledging and reporting any Health and Safety concerns within the environment and reducing hazards to prevent incidents, accidents or near misses occurring. To promote a Health and Safety awareness culture amongst staff in the home.
• To attend and be pro active in staff/resident/relative meetings and to support the Registered Manager in their decision making and the agreed outcomes.
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess good communications skills both verbal / non verbal and written. They will have effectively listening and interpersonal skills together with good time management skills. Our client is ideally looking for experience but more importantly they're looking for people that have a genuine interest in working with older people who are self motivated and willing to develop professionally. The successful Nursing Support Assistant must have a professional attitude and presentation. Someone who is patient and understanding, honest and trustworthy will be considered for the role.
Key experience essential/desirable for the role of Nursing Support Assistant based in Gosport, Hampshire:
• Must live within a commutable distance of Gosport, Hampshire
• Satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service check and Adult First check (DBS)
• Two satisfactory references including previous employer
Desirable:
• NVQ / Diploma / BTEC level 1 / 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care / Apprenticeship
• Previous experience in
• Clean driving licence
• Understanding of private sector funding of beds
• Knowledge of Care Quality Commission and Regulations under the Health and Social Care Act 2008
