About the project
Norbiton is the most deprived area of the Kingston-upon-Thames borough, and is within the 20% most deprived nationally.  Figures published by Kingston council suggest that children from deprived backgrounds in Kingston leave Foundation Stage education as much as 20% behind other children. The vision of our project is to eliminate this educational inequality by providing outstanding education and building a holistic network of support around the child.

The Quadra Foundation is developing and launching a new pilot nursery school to achieve this vision in the vicinity of the Cambridge Road Estate, Norbiton, Kingston upon Thames.  The project will use a combination of child-first pedagogical approaches, adopting elements of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Steiner and Forest School theories and will focus on holistically supporting the wellbeing of the children and their carers.  It will provide the model for future development of the concept, rolling out to older age ranges and further locations.
