Company Overview

The company was established in 1974. Their distribution centre is centrally located just 5 minutes from Junction 10 of the M6 Motorway- ideally situated for next day UK distribution services. The modern fleet consists of over 40 trucks and 60 trailers ranging from 18 tonne ‘Tail Lift’ rigid to 44 tonne gross articulated vehicles with 28 tonne payload, each vehicle fitted with ‘kwiktrak satellite tracking’ system so you will always know what time your goods will be delivered.


Traffic Planner – Role Overview

Working in a busy Transport Office you will be responsible for planning Multi-Drop deliveries for a mixed fleet of Rigid & Articulated Curtain-siders. You will have good organisational and operational skills. You will have experience in the General Haulage environment and be hands on. Ideal candidate would have Class 1 Licence / CPC and Forklift experience.

Previous experience in this field essential.

Traffic Planner – Job Specification

  •  Assisting with day to day planning of Multi-drop deliveries in an efficient and profitable manner.
  •  Troubleshooting day to day problems such as Driver Absenteeism, Vehicle Breakdowns, Vehicle delays (advising customer of late deliveries in   advance)
  •  Arranging same-day transport for late orders.
  •  Dealing with driver queries – addresses/ shortages/ damages etc.
  •  Organise daily collections from customers and movements of trailers locally, changing/ tweaking plans to optimise efficiency and meet delivery  times and deadlines.
  •  Constantly review next day’s plan looking for ways to improve routes and minimise cost. Obtaining back loads and processing accordingly.
  •  Ensure compliance in all areas – vehicle gross weights, driving hour’s regulations etc. Downloading Digi Tachograph cards & vehicles.
  •  Assist with loading vehicles by FLT when a warehouse operative is not available.• Processing delivery notes and matching up to driver’s manifests for next day’s routes, checking actual weights against customer advised weights.
  •  Briefing / De-briefing drivers paying attention to special instructions and times etc.
  •  All aspects of day to day transport office duties.
  •  Shift Times – 0630 – 1630 / 0800 – 1730 – during busy periods you may be expected to work over. Saturdays usually a maximum of 12 per year which usually is for less than 2 Hours per shift.
