* Location: Burnham-on-Sea
* Shifts available: days, evenings, waking nights, weekends.
* Pay: GBP8.50-GBP10.29 per hour (Umbrella Rate)
Organisation:
The organisation is one of the UK's leading support services for adults with Autism and other complex needs. The service consists of 6 Residential homes and a day centre all set within 26 acres of beautiful grounds.
Service users enjoy the independence of their own room and use of the communal house for meals and activities including music and art projects. During leisure times the individuals regularly visit the local cinema, swimming pool, local shops and trips to the beach. The service also organises regular excursions to the larger towns of Taunton and Weston-super-Mare to encourage independence and interaction with the local community.
Responsibilities:
As a Support Worker you will be responsible for the following;
* Giving individuals the chance to lead a full life instead of isolation or family dependence.
* Giving autistic people the confidence and skills to live well, enjoy activities that others take for granted.
* Creating and encouraging good relationships and communication with the people who use the service.
* Ensuring the safety of the service users and maintaining an up to date knowledge of each individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
* Assisting people who use the service to get involved in a range of new opportunities, experiences and activities.
* There will be varying levels of support required with personal care.
* There will be situations where you need to support with taxing behaviours safely and sympathetically.
Requirements:
* Minimum 6 Months paid experience supporting adults with Autism or Learning Disabilities.
* Experience of working with challenging behaviour.
* Car driver preferable as you will take service users in to the community
* Full training is provided via the client and the agency.
