Our In-Patient Unit (IPU) reception is the first point of contact in the evenings for all our patients' visitors and relevant telephone calls. We need friendly faces that can remain calm and collected at all times.
The role will involve:
- Presenting the face of St Barnabas House
- Being the main point of contact on the reception in the evenings for visitors to the In Patient Unit and directing them to where they need to go
- Unlocking and opening doors when people arrive and leave
- Taking telephone calls and either forwarding them or taking messages
- Carrying out basic administrative tasks when quiet to help keep the unit running smoothly
- Making drinks for visiting families if required to help put them at ease
- An induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training.
When will it be:
Shifts available Monday to Sunday, 5pm to 8pm
Your Skills:
- A willingness to learn (Some of these skills you will already have and some may require training, which we will provide for you including any training on our software)
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Concise and accurate message taking
- Ability to remain calm and adopt an empathetic and sensitive approach
- Flexibility and willingness to work on your own or part of our team
- Reliability and good time-keeping
- Ability to operate switchboard telephone system
- Ability to use additional office equipment including the photocopierInsightful into palliative care
Mandatory:
- You will need to have been approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
