Job Summary: The Corporate Payroll Manager position is responsible for the oversight of all Payroll functions for the FNST business in the US and Canada including supervision of the Payroll Administrators. In addition to FNST, payroll services are also provided to other Freudenberg businesses in the U.S. and Canada. Additional responsibilities include supporting management with budget analysis, annual operations planning, measuring KPI's and other special projects. Due to the high level of automation, good understanding of integrated computerized systems is required. The position requires regular interaction with associates in all levels of the company (from plant associates to executive management), and therefore excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The position has significant responsibility due to the critical nature of the functions and can impact the company should any of the payroll operations encounter problems which affect operations. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including federal and multiple states regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification. Demonstrated job duties and knowledge listed for the job classification. Knowledge of all duties is to be cross functional but specific duties are assigned within available personnel.
Responsible for the oversight of the payroll accounting function for multiple legal entities in the U.S. and Canada
Supervision and direction of payroll staff including annual performance reviews
Manage the process for weekly, bi-weekly and monthly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to over 5,000 employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
Partner with HR to critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations
Responsible for weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing, including data entry into the general ledger, the payroll bank reconciliation and that to insure that all proper payroll and related taxes are paid accurately and on time. Requires ongoing interaction with plant HR personnel as it relates to employees time and other payroll adjustments
Manage regular preparation of relevant management and statutory reports, including weekly, monthly, quarter and year-end reports and KPI's
Audit W-4's, payroll balance sheets, 401K, worker's comp, YTD earnings, etc.
Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)
Responsible for the review and approval of all HRIS System configuration changes, updates and user set-ups
Provide audit support for all annual financial audit requests as it relates Payroll and worker's comp audit
Participate and oversee payroll projects and opportunities as assigned
Provide excellent customer service and be back up for payroll process as necessary

Qualifications:
B.S. degree in accounting or other business related field
Minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible financial positions
General accounting experience in multi-location company of similar size and complexity to FNST
Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles
Strong computer and business solutions software skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated familiarity with payroll functions
Direct experience with ADP Vantage payroll or similar system for a similar sized company
Comfortable in highly automated environments and ability to drive continuous process improvements
Supervisory experience
Experience in preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients and upper management
Preferred Qualifications:
Audit support experience preferably with a public reporting company
Multi-Country payroll experience
CPA, or similar professional designation
